TN – IMMIGRANT MOM SUES LAWYERS FOR COERCING HER TO SIGN DOCUMENTS ABOUT CHILD’S LAWSUIT!
“NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Mexican mother in a Tennessee child-custody battle involving a severely brain-damaged girl has filed an affidavit raising questions about the actions of several lawyers involved in the case and a related lawsuit.”
Ingrid Diaz, 23 is a Mexican immigrant in the country illegally but her 4 yr old daughter , Alessandra Villalobos is an American citizen. Due to a hospital mistake at Vanderbilt Medical Center which left little Alessandra brain damaged, Diaz is suing both her lawyers and the hospital.
Diaz is claiming that her lawyers “ambushed and coerced” her into signing the document which is in English, a language that Ms. Diaz can’t read or speak.
“The agreement, signed by five lawyers and Diaz, waives the mother’s claims to all expenses for her daughter and removes her from the role of guardian in the malpractice suit, allowing the court-appointed guardian to pursue that claim.
Other lawyers who signed the agreement were Mark Chalos, David Lyons and Laura Stewart and the court-appointed guardian for the girl, Jeanan Stewart”
The Mexican consulate is investigating this incident.
Something is not right here. Why would this mother remove herself from the role of guardian in the malpractice suit? That doesn’t make sense. I suspect she was coerced into signing a document that she wouldn’t have otherwise signed if she understood it. What’s worse is that her poor little daughter is now brain damaged as a result of quacks at Vanderbilt hospital! No, amount of money can make up for the loss of quality of life. My heart goes out to little Alessandra.
