NY- TEEN JABS UMBRELLA TIP INTO SCHOOL GUARD’S EYE!
NY – 17 year old high school student, Desiree Vasquez was arrested along with friends for jabbing the tip of her umbrella into school safety agent, Michelle Love’s eye! The agent had asked the teens to move out of a restricted area when the melee took place. The incident happened at Renaissance High School at the Lehman High School Campus.
For those of you that don’t know what going on in New York City public schools, the situation is this: Alot of schools in the inner city have installed metal detectors due to violence. NYC police officers are acting as guards within the schools. Alot of students have complained that the cops are harrassing them, treating them as criminals and threatening to arrest them over minor violations like being in the hall at the wrong time. Some teachers have also expressed uneasiness about the police being in public schools. Because of this situation, there’s a uneasiness on the part of alot of students towards guards and police officers in schools. This has nothing to do with the above incident, it’s just being pointed out as reference.
