IN.- PARENTS REFUSE BLOOD FOR PREMATURE BABY!
Fort Wayne, ID. Stephanie and Pierre Binns, devout Jehovah’s Witnesses, are refusing a blood transfusion for their premature anemic baby, being referred to as Baby Girl Binns. A judge has issued a court order overruling the Binns’ decision. The family has sought alternative treatment that now seem to be working for the baby. Richard Dellinger, an elder in the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ church in Fort Wayne explained:
Dellinger serves as a hospital liaison and refers to a passage in Acts to justify their belief in not taking blood.
“In Acts 15, verse 29, it says to abstain from blood,” said Dellinger.
It’s one thing if they want to abstain from blood, but you cannot ask your children to die for your religion! People do not have an absolute right to practice their religion. For ex. if your religion calls for human sacrifice, you can’t do that because it violates state murder laws.
These people that want to use the bible to justify life or death decisions for their children, – they’re very selective about which passages they choose to follow. The bible states that adulterers, homosexuals and children who curse at their parents should be stoned to death! The bible says you can’t wear garments containing two different threads (check the parent’s clothes), you can’t cut the hair on the side of your head (wonder if the father has short hair?), you can’t eat shellfish (no lobster), you can’t touch the skin of a pig (I wonder if the parents have ever played football) and it goes on and on. Like I said, it’s one thing if you want to abstain but you can’t ask your children to die for your religion!
